On June 21, people around the world mark the summer solstice—The Longest Day of the year—by fighting for a cure for Alzheimer’s. We at Sentrics are passionate about this fight because1 in 9 people over the age of 65 suffers from Alzheimer’s disease and the number is growing…rapidly.
As a technology leader in senior living and acute care, Sentrics clients care for Alzheimer’s-related conditions every day. In fact, that 66% of those who die of dementia, do so in nursing homes or senior living facilities according to the Alzheimer’s Association’s 2022 Alzheimer’s Disease Facts and Figures special report.
The Alzheimer’s Association uses the color purple to symbolize the calm stability of blue and the passionate energy of red. For the fifth year running, Sentrics team members will Paint Sentrics Purple as a show of solidarity for Alzheimer’s Research and its “The Longest Day” fund raising program. The program raises funds for Alzheimer’s research while showing support for our solutions help operators who care for seniors and younger patients with and without Alzheimer’s-related conditions in thousands of communities and hospitals across the country.
This year, when we Paint Sentrics Purple, we challenge you to think about how can we make all of our brains more purple. Did you know that ‘engaging in mentally stimulating activities such as reading, writing, and playing games can improve brain health? Exercising your brain can help prevent beta-amyloid deposits from developing. These are the destructive proteins that have become the hallmark of Alzheimer’s disease.’
To help each Sentrics team member expand their purple brains, we will host a purple party on June 21st. During this party, we will have a guest speaker, . We will also play different games and activities to educate attendees on how we can strengthen our brains and bodies to help prevent the effects of Alzheimer’s disease. We invite you to find your own way to make your brain more purple. Watch our video to see how the Sentrics team marked the longest day in previous years.
